It snowed!!! It was magical!! Until it started to rain and turned all the snow to slush and all the gutters filled with gross trash water. I still loved it.
I finally convinced Dallin to head into the city with me for a night full of Christmas adventures! We started on the Lower East Side with some shopping in Soho. Then we walked to Union Square to check out the holiday market. Dallin had his first empanada, and claimed it to be ‘life changing’ while he was raving about it to some friends we were interrupted by a passer by because they had to know what could be so life changing.
After the glorious empanadas we caught the Q train uptown to Columbus Circle where we walked through the holiday market there and tried some of the best churros of my life, they come in a close second to Costco churros – unbeatable!!
Columbus Circle has a cool little underground shopping center called ‘Turnstyle’. Dallin had never been so we stopped by and despite my not so subtle hints Dallin did not buy me this ridiculous tote bag.
Dallin was not impressed by Turnstyle so we high tailed it out of there to walk down 5th avenue and check out all the shop windows. I’ve heard tales of the amazing shop window displays around Christmas and they did not disappoint. My favorite was Cartier! As we made our way down 5th Ave we stopped by the tree at 30Rock. I can’t walk past this building without humming the 30Rock theme song! ‘Dum, dum, dum, dum… etc.’ Dallin hates it. Being married to me is hard.
The tree was GIANT! and it was so crowded so we snapped a picture and ran out of there to catch the subway to Herald Square to see SANTA!!! We walked through Macy’s and danced in the square before heading back to Brooklyn.
Christmas in NY is as magical as everyone says it is. I love living here. Below are some pictures from our fun night out and some other random outings we’ve had recently.
Enjoy! (Hi Grandma! This post really is for you because I know you’re the only who reads it. Love you :))
Below are some photos from a walk to the Brooklyn Bridge a few weeks ago.
